ReFood has been disposing of food and kitchen waste, used cooking oil and frying fats, as well as out-of-date food arising from catering, trade and industry applications, since the late 1980s and enabling sustainable, beneficial use to be made of this material.
 
From more than 450,000 tonnes of waste each year, ReFood extracts the basic materials needed to produce biodiesel as well as environmentally friendly energy in the form of electricity and heat from biogas plants. The associated fermentation product is a high-quality organic fertiliser for agricultural use. With 15 logistics centres nationwide, more than 300 special vehicles and around 800 employees, ReFood is the market leader in Germany.
